Meet Wendy Sue Anderson

I'm excited to have Wendy Sue Anderson with us as Guest Designer for May! Read all about Wendy and check out some great shots of her creative space.

Don't forget to leave Wendy a welcome comment on this thread for a chance to win "Wendy's Favorite Things" that she picked out from the store! Winner will be picked by a random number generator and announced on May 16th. Good Luck!

Hi! My Name is Wendy Sue Anderson and I live in a beautiful mountain valley in Utah with my handsome and supportive husband and our four beautiful children. I have been paper-crafting since I was a little girl, thanks to a mother who encouraged us to make our own creative cards and gifts. I’ve always kept a scrapbook, but became obsessed (in a good way, of course) with scrapbooking shortly after Brad and I were married in 1993.

I have been fortunate to work with some of my very favorite manufacturers over the years, and I’ve been designing with Making Memories since 2000. I’m also lucky to be on the American Crafts “local design team.” I’ve had several projects published in various magazines, including Creating Keepsakes, Paper Crafts, Simple Scrapbooks, Scrapbook Trends, and Cards. I am passionate about journaling and recording my thoughts and feelings as well as the “who, what, when, and where.”

This hobby, turned job, has definitely helped me focus on the most important aspects of my life – namely family – and I’ll forever be grateful for the lessons I’ve learned, people I’ve met, and wonderful opportunities that have come my way in the last several years.

I am so excited to be a guest designer this month here at Emma’s Paperie! Thanks so much, Cindy for asking me to join you for May!

Welcome to my scrapbook area! Here we are, standing in my bedroom, looking into my office. Come on in. From here you can see my two big filing cabinets that hold a lot of my 12x12 paper and cardstock. On top of the cabinets you’ll find my favorite photo printer (an Epson Stylus Photo 1280) and my tool organizer. The shelf on the wall holds projects that are “in progress” or recently completed – until they find a permanent home. And if you look closely, you can see that I have several photo frames tucked between my filing cabinets and the wall – a project that’s waiting to be started.

I love the big window above my table – it lets in lots of sunshine – and early in the mornings, I love to open it up and listen to the birds sing. J On my table you’ll always find my computer monitor, lamp, sewing machine, and paper trimmer – they are necessities for me! (the speakers, keyboard, and mouse are usually on the table, but sometimes they get moved to the cabinet if I need more space to spread out.)

When I’m sitting at my table, I’m facing the wall with my two Scrap Boxes. They are the greatest organizing armoires you’ll ever meet! Take a peek inside – amazing, right? There’s a place for everything!!! The one on the left holds all of my Making Memories product. The one on the right holds almost everything else. J I love that I can close them up to make my room look and feel tidy, or I can open up the doors so I can see everything I have all at once!

And on the wall next to the door, you will find my bookshelf. I love having this open shelf here. It’s mostly “functional” but I was able to fit a few things on it just to be colorful and fun. All of my scraps are in the file boxes, my photos that are waiting to be scrapbooked are in the albums on the top shelf. I love having a bunch of idea books and magazines within arms reach when I need a little bit of inspiration.

The wall that’s behind me is a closet. I’m not going to show you the inside. It’s a mess! But it’s the kind of mess that you can look at, dig into, and find fun things that you totally forgot about – so that’s a good mess, right?!? One of these days I’ll organize it all…but not today.

If you have any questions for me – I’d love to hear from you! And please, feel free to drop by my scrapbook room, or my blog (www.wendysueanderson@blogspot.com), and visit anytime!!

Welcome Wendy. You have a wonderful working area and everything looks so organized. I am a rather "messy" stamper at times, getting this and that out. But I have learned to put everything back in it's place as soon as I can. I will be checking out your blog too.

Welcome Wendy! What a great space you have. I have a similar window in my craft room and I have this love hate relationship with it. It is beautiful, overlooks a park and lets lots of sunshine in (that is to say on those rare sunny Michigan days.) All of that is the love part. Then there is the part of me that thinks "geez if I didn't have this big, beautiful window, I could have shelves and hangy things, and ribbon holders at arms reach. But my big window is very much appreciated... but the storage would be nice! See, love hate!
