Fun Birthday Trivia: Although you might celebrate your birthday every year, your actual birthday only occurs once every 7 years! Not counting the leap years, the date you were born on moves each year to the following day of the week. This means your annual celebration is actually for your birth date - not your birthday - and in truth your birth day i.e. the actual day you were born on occurs only every 7 years!

And here's our first prize for the day:
First Question: Do you make yourself a cake, or does someone in the family surprise you with one on your birthday?

My husband usually is in charge of the cake but he's not very good at remembering what I like and dislike... so the kids and I helped him a little this year. The truth is, I'd rather have pie!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I usually 'let' my hubby and/or sons purchase a cake for me on my birthday -- I just can't bring myself to bake my own birthday cake :)

Betsy said...

It varies from birthday to birthday. Sometimes I bake my own but if I feel I can afford the calories, I will indulge in a store-bought cake with all that delicious frosting!

Feliz Cumpleanos! Happy Birthday!
ok, since my last baking episode we happily purchase all birthday cakes from our local baker or grocery store, lol, much tastier and safer that way.

As a former professional cake decorator, I refuse to make my own cake. I now expect that my husband will buy me a Carvel ice cream cake for my birthday...really, I don't even ask anymore, cuz he knows I love the ice cream cake and he always gets one for me! what a great guy I've got!

Well, after NOT getting a cake on my 30th birthday - we (me or hubby or both) always make sure that we have birthday cakes. We usually don't do the surprise thing - and sometimes I even pick out the design and colors for it (the more outrageos the better) but it always comes from my favorite baker.

We buy a cake at our local store. It's a chocolate mousse cream cake and it's homemade by the lady of this small bakery that delivers to the store and absolutely delicious and everybody's favorite. She also makes a fantastic cheese-cake, so sometimes we buy two as her prices are realy very low too.

Happy Birthday Emma's Paperie!! Thanks for the chance to win one of the many great prize packages today!

As for my birthday cake, if my day falls during the week, I normally make it, although I usually let the kids decorate it. If it's a weekend and we're getting together with family, my sister is the designated cake-baker-decorator. And she's awesome!

My birthday cakes are either made by my husband, my mother or a bakery.

All depends on where and how I am celebrating my birthday.

When I married my husband, I married his birthday custom -- a "cake" made of a stack of doughnuts. Well, at least everyone gets their favorite flavor, lol.
